This is a memorial piece done by the artist for her mother who passed away sadly in May of 2019
A collection of moments in time, each invoking an emotive response from the viewer, displayed on a public stage.
The same can be said for tears.
There is a distinct difference in the composition of Psychic tears (sadness and joy), Basal tears (to keep the eyes moist and reflex tears (from onions or tear gas), this difference extends even to the make-up of the tears of happiness and sadness.
Under the microscope my own tears of sadness can be seen here, reflective of loss and intertwined with the WhatsApp messages, slowly being lost in time and volume of messages, yet retained eternally on databases digitally and immortalised in memory.
The beauty of a single tear captured and collected, portrayed like photographs, meaningful perhaps only to the “author”.
